Holistic Services
We cater to your needs, feel at peace knowing your pets in good hands. We pride ourselves on an extremely clean animal hospital. Our veterinarians and our staff blend technology with old fashioned caring.
All of the doctors at Tequesta Veterinary Clinic strive to provide health care with a holistic approach. Yes, we have all been trained in America with western medicine. And yet, whenever we can incorporate supplements or therapy laser or nutrition we will! We view holistic medicine as a common-sense approach that utilizes the safest options available. Sometimes that might be as simple as giving a pet with a dermatological condition a bath on a regular schedule!
Supplements
We at Tequesta Vet Clinic utilize supplements whenever possible over “medications”. Examples include fish oils, CBD, milk thistle, S adenyl methionine, and L-theanine. Know that when your pet has any issue, the doctors at Tequesta Vet Clinic will do our best to incorporate holistic alternatives such as supplements.
Nutrition
Several diseases (liver, heart, derm, and kidney disease in particular) can benefit from dietary management. For families who wish to make home-cooked diets we advise them to check out the website, BalanceIt.com. BalanceIt.com (as in “balance it”) was created by a veterinary nutritionist. The nutritionists at BalanceIt.com take into account your pet’s medical issues and help formulate the best diet while also involving your desires. They carry their own brand of trusted supplements that ensure a balanced diet to accompany your preferences. BalanceIt.com also provides nutritional guidance for healthy pets without health issues.
For the rest of us who are not culinarily inclined, we carry the Royal Canin brand diets. Royal Canin does 60% of veterinary nutrition research. More importantly, they strive for high palatability. What good is a kidney diet if your pet won’t eat it?
Proper body weight
We know that healthy body weight can alleviate many health issues from diabetes to tracheal collapse to arthritis. Obesity can cause insulin resistance. Obesity can not only predispose to arthritis but can exacerbate arthritis. Pets with upper airway disease typically improve when obesity resolves. If we tell you Fluffy is a bit voluptuous, we aren’t trying to make you feel inadequate or incite an argument. We are trying to help your pet live his or her best life, free of disease and pain. If we can get a chubby arthritic senior Labrador to lose weight and achieve a proper body condition, we may be able to avoid or decrease the dosage of anti-inflammatory drugs.

Regular wellness exams are the key to keeping your pet healthy. We recommend all pets undergo an annual nose-to-tail wellness exam, though more frequent exams are encouraged. As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and frequent exams can help spot health problems in your pet before they become expensive to treat and potentially life-threatening.
Wellness exams are one component of routine care. These are meant to identify potentially life-threatening medical conditions early or prevent them from appearing in the first place. At a wellness visit, our vet may suggest lifestyle or feeding changes to prevent the development of illnesses down the road.
Another important aspect of routine care is regular dental cleanings. This allows us to prevent tooth decay, periodontal and gum disease, and plaque build-up that could affect the health of your animal’s heart and liver. Plus, it’s pretty nice to have a pet without bad breath!
Tequesta Veteniranian Clinic is excited to offer our clients Companion Laser Therapy. Laser therapy provides a non-invasive, pain-free, surgery-free, drug-free treatment which is used to treat a variety of conditions and can be performed in conjunction with existing treatment protocols. Relief and improvement are often observed within hours, depending on the condition and your pet’s unique health status.
Ask about our FREE Microchipping for patients.
Countless lost pet stories end happily with animals and owners being reunited thanks to this little piece of technology. Collars can come off on tree branches or on fences, leaving your pet nearly unidentifiable without a microchip. Perhaps even more frightening, you could be separated from your pet while traveling as well. If you haven’t gotten your animal microchipped yet, there’s no time like the present. Ask about our Free microchipping for patients.
Ultrasound is a painless, safe, non-invasive procedure we use to evaluate your pet’s internal organs. Using sound waves, ultrasound produces a real-time moving picture of your pet’s organs that allows us to visualize objects that cannot be detected by X-rays alone. It is one of the many ways we strive to give you peace of mind when it comes to your pet’s health.
Your pet’s surgery will be performed here in our veterinary clinic, so you have the confidence of knowing your pet is under the care of our skilled veterinarians (Dr. Joi, Dr. Javi, Dr. Bill) using our state-of-the-art equipment and surgical instruments. You can also be assured that our experienced and well-trained veterinary nurses will be monitoring your pet’s vital signs while under anesthesia and continuing to keep watch over them throughout the recovery period.
We provide services, especially for senior pets.
Getting old is never easy, but it doesn’t need to be as stressful for your pet as it may have been in the past. We offer supportive care to your senior pets, including periodic injections, depending on their individual needs. Certain conditions, such as diabetes, and arthritis, tend to appear as our pets age. With proper supportive care, your animal may have many more healthy and happy years by your side.
